A college packing list should answer three questions: what to bring, what to leave, and how to get it all into one car without a family argument in the driveway.

Box One: The Bed Box
Unpack this one first. Always.
Twin XL sheets (two sets), a mattress topper, your comforter, pillows, and our sherpa throw blanket that does double duty as decor (the same signature fabric the whole cozy line grew from). Making the bed is the fastest way to make a cinder-block rectangle feel like yours, and it gives you a place to sit while you argue about where the fridge goes.
Box Two: The Closet Duffel
Here's the packing secret nobody believes until October: you don't need your whole closet. You need two weeks of real life.
Everyday basics, one nice outfit for the thing you don't know about yet, layers in your school colors, and the cozy pieces that earn daily wear: a hoodie for lecture halls, and the Jill Martin Lounger for everything else. This is the packing move that separates the veterans from the first-timers.
One bag that rides in the car with you, not in the trunk stack: your ID and paperwork, medications, phone charger, snacks, a water bottle, one complete outfit, and the bedding for night one.
Because at 11pm on move-in day, when the boxes are a mountain and everyone's exhausted, you will not want to excavate for your toothbrush. The Day-One Bag means you don't have to.

What Stays Home
The list that saves the trunk space: the printer, the iron, the full kitchen set, the candle collection (banned nearly everywhere), the winter coat in August (it comes back with you after fall break), and the eighth pair of shoes. If it hasn't earned a spot in two weeks of real life, it hasn't earned a seat in the car.
The School Spirit Layer
One thing worth packing on purpose: something in your colors. School spirit is personal around here (Jill's a Michigan alum), and game days start earlier than you think. The first Saturday, usually.
