A Letter From Jill
Hi TODAY fans, Jill Martin here,
On October 1st, let’s turn pain into purpose. Together on the TODAY Show, we will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most people to sign up for a DNA screening in one hour.
A simple genetic test – a quick spit test that takes only seconds – helped save my life. Had I known earlier, I may have been spared chemotherapy, radiation, a double mastectomy, and ongoing treatment. I can’t bear to watch anyone else go through this unnecessarily. That is why, on the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we are filling the plaza with Warriors – people who in the face of unimaginable obstacles choose to forge forward with strength, grit and kindness.
Chief Breast Surgeon at Mount Sinai, Dr. Elisa Port, will be joining us on the plaza for this historic day.
“Knowledge is power when it comes to your health. Genetic testing provides actionable information about certain cancer risks for which there is both early detection and even prevention. Not having a family history does not let you off the hook – many people still carry mutations without one.”
JScreen, a company that makes genetic testing more accessible and allows people to empower themselves, will also be on hand to educate participants about the testing process. “JScreen’s Hereditary Cancer Test screens 48 genes linked to hereditary cancer, including BRCA1 and BRCA2, to provide insight into risk for a wide range of hereditary cancers.”
Here’s how to sign up to join us:
👉 [Sign up here] LINK if you are committed to attending the Plaza and signing up to learn about the importance of genetic testing.
The first 350 to sign up will receive a Pink Power Pass, which includes:
- Official entry into the Guinness World Record attempt
- A commemorative certificate as a Guinness World Record holder (if record is broken)
After you sign up to attend, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your Pink Power Pass.
- Location: Rockefeller Plaza (entrance on 48th Street)
- Arrival Time: 6:00 AM*
This is more than a record. It’s a movement – to empower women, men, and anyone to take control of their health. Together, we’ll prove that knowledge is power and early detection saves lives.
